Belkar: I guess I'll settle for whatever this inn's got.

Cut to Vaarsuvius and Belkar in the next room. An explosion occurs in the room Belkar is in, "BOOM!".

D&D Context Edit

  • In the third panel Belkar is referring to the 9th-level Wizard spell Time Stop.
  • There are nine versions of the Summon Monster spell, for example Summon Monster VII, which follow the Roman numeral system just as Belkar's joke spell, Summon Coffee VII
  • The Maximize Spell metamagic Feat makes all rolled numbers the maximum possible they could be.
  • Explosive Runes is a 3rd-level Wizard spell that creates writing which explodes when read.

Trivia Edit

  • The title is part of the slogan for Folgers, a coffee brand.
  • "Good to the last drop" is the slogan for Maxwell House, another coffee brand.
  • The innkeeper's reaction is due to the fact that Belkar has been walking on stilts and wearing a blue paladin's cloak since the party made its agreement with Shojo in #294.
  • V's comedic use of explosive runes is a running gag in the comic.
  • This is the first appearance of Rooster of Azure City and Rooster's Stepson. Their familial relationship is not yet established.
