As Tsukiko unravels the mystery of the Gate ritual, she begins to understand that Redcloak has the other half of it, and that his allegiance is not really to Xykon. Redcloak is forced to kill her, something that he wanted to do anyway, to prevent her from informing Xykon. Redcloak switches Xykon's phylactery for a forgery.
